BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, English Programme
What is the programme about?
The programme provides a solid knowledge of the different functional areas of management for mastering business operations and setting up a company, together with training to hone your communication skills and personal development. The programme will offer you a profound knowledge of corporate life and practice-oriented education to obtain the required skills in key managerial responsibilities in an international environment. Developing ICT-skills, communication and language skills and the capacity for teamwork and leadership are also an important part of the programme. Cross-cultural and teamwork skills are encouraged and developed within different group projects, the internship and the bachelor thesis.
The Bachelor of Business Management programme is designed for Belgian and international students who wish to gain a profound knowledge of different management domains and obtain an international business degree within the intercultural context of a globalised world. International fellow students, foreign lecturers, study trips and exchange possibilities will enhance the cross-cultural awareness and communication.
Within the programme you choose each year two foreign languages. For non-native speakers, English as the first foreign language is mandatory. The second foreign language can be chosen freely but has to be different from the mother tongue. Native English speakers can choose the foreign languages from the range: French, Dutch, German, Spanish. For the students who really aspire an international career, there is the opportunity to choose a third language.
The programme is close to the programme of ‘Business Management & Entrepreneurship’ in Dutch. In both programmes the aim is to gain insight into the general operation of a company and to acquire a broad general knowledge and insight into the various departments of a business. In the English-language programme, however, the focus is mainly on the company from an international perspective. The mix of local and foreign students and teachers, study trips, Erasmus programmes and international internship opportunities facilitate this. As for the Erasmus programmes, it is possible to study for one term during your final year at a foreign partner or to obtain a double degree if you study abroad for one year in one of our partner universities. It is obvious that doing business in an international context is at the top of the agenda here.
You do an internship of at least nine weeks in your final year in Belgium or abroad within the Erasmus+ programme.
